Introducing Louise, my 2014 TCTeardrops 5×9 camper. After dreaming of having my own teardrop camper, I finally purchased one in the fall of 2014. I named her after Lake Louise in Banff, Alberta because her color matches the gorgeous, glacier fed lakes of the region. Honestly, her color is more similar to Peyto Lake or Moraine Lake, but Louise had a better ring to it.
I can’t remember when I first dreamed of having a teardrop camper, but it’s been years and years. I would have liked to build my own, but I live in a townhouse and was fearful I’d start it and never finish it. I investigated dozens of builders before settling on TCTeardrops out of Wassau, Wisconsin. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. There are more personalization projects I have planned for the interior, but all in all, Louise is perfect and I couldn’t be happier. She has ample storage space, a comfy interior with plenty of headroom, two doors and two windows, and a great mattress. I also love that I can continue to upgrade her. I may add a roof rack in the future, and am considering an air conditioner for the hot southern summers I encounter. But that is all long range, and I can do the upgrades in stages.
What do I plan to do in my new teardrop? The possibilities are endless. I’ve got a handful of long-range roadtrips planned. I want to take her on a cross country trip or two, maybe some international ones as well to visit her namesake in Alberta, Canada. I also just want to get out there and enjoy the outdoors. I’m convinced that nobody can tell me a better way to relax than sitting next to a campfire with a cold beer and a good book.
In 2015, I might not be able to do any major trips to Wyoming, Utah, Arizona and Colorado, but I’m going to Wisconsin in June and Virginia in July, so that’s a start. Hopefully both of those trips will include some great brewery visits, beer, afterall, is my inspiration for many of my planned roadies!
